ACT/SAT Preparation

college admissions mistakes: setting end goal

You can improve your scores!

As college admission and scholarship criteria become increasingly competitive, it is important that your kids have the tools they need to make them the best candidate possible when applying to schools. Colleges place ACT/SAT scores as a key indicator of a student’s success at their university. Therefore, it is important to invest in your child’s success at taking these tests. It is a commonly held belief that students can do little to prepare for the ACT/SAT, but this could not be further from the truth. Elite Academics has studied these college entrance exams, allowing us to develop strategies that will help your child maximize his or her scores. These strategies include, but are not limited to: time management, common math formulas, common grammar rules instead of uses, and question analysis.

At Elite Academics, we recognize that each person learns differently, and accordingly, we have created two different methods of ACT preparation: classroom and one-on-one tutoring. Each approach is based on the proven theory that repetitive practice and strategy development raise scores. Please see the additional tabs to learn more about each option that we offer.

We also offer private tutoring for SAT and SAT subject test preparation. We generally recommend that students take the ACT instead of the SAT, as the ACT is easier to prepare for and is accepted by nearly all schools. If your student is interested in taking the SAT, please contact us to discuss individual sessions. You can register for and see the upcoming dates for the ACT at www.actstudent.org.

We offer several options to fit your schedule!

Private Tutoring

There are several reasons you may want to consider private tutoring over a group class. Your child may have an extremely busy schedule and need flexibility with instruction times. He or she may learn best with individual interaction. Private tutoring is especially tailored to your student’s learning style, strengths, and needs. Also, if your child has missed the cycle for our class but needs instruction for an upcoming test, we are able to start private tutoring at any time. (We recommend starting instruction a minimum of five weeks prior to a test.)

Features of this class:

One student per instructor

Student-centered strategy development

Many hourly packages available

Varying amount of homework required

Small Group

If you have a student who cannot attend our Sunday class and/or would like a little more individual attention, our small group class is a great option. It meets one evening each week for 2.5 hours for a total of 12 weeks.

Features of this class:

Maximum of 4 students

1 to 2 instructors per class

1 full-length practice test

22 hours of in-class test prep

Dinner included for each class

Some homework required

ACT Class

Is your student busy? The answer is probably yes. With the course loads and extracurricular activities many students take on during their junior and senior years, it can be difficult to fit in ACT practice. For this reason, we hold our class once a week on Sunday afternoons.

This course offers three full-length practice tests, which allows your child to gain ample comfort with the test. It also allows us to monitor their progress throughout the class.

We recommend signing up for this course during your child’s junior year. If your child is a senior, you should consult with an Elite Academics instructor to discuss whether you child will be able to complete the course prior to application deadlines.

Features of this class:

Maximum of 30 students

Three instructors per class

Includes class materials

50 hours of in-class test prep

3 full-length practice tests

No homework required
